Woody, Padilla win gold medals at Austrian Ladies Open as part of FILA Cadet tour

Two talented young women wrestlers, Nicole Woody of Odenton, Md. and Tatiana Padilla of Laverne, Calif., claimed gold medals in the Cadet division at the Austrian Ladies Open in Gotzis, Austria, June 11-12.
A team of seven U.S. wrestlers participated in this international competition, and will conduct joint training opportunities in Europe, as part of USA Wrestlings FILA Cadet womens program.
Overall we placed second in the Cadet tournament behind Germany Team I, said U.S. coach Mike Marr. I am extremely proud of our girls' performances. We now looking forward to a good week of training camp.
Woody won three matches on the way to the title at 46 kg/101.25 lbs. She beat American teammate Cameron Yeik of Bremerton, Wash. in the gold-medal finals, 3-0-1-1.
Woody was third at the 2005 Body Bar FILA Cadet Nationals, and is a past Junior Nationals champion.
Padilla also had three straight wins to take the title at 52 kg/114.5 lbs.. She stopped Ramona Ballas of Germany in the championship finals, 4-1, 3-0.
Padilla was a Body Bar FILA Cadet National champion this year.
Overall, the U.S. won five medals. In addition to Yeiks silver medal, the U.S. added a silver medal at 56 kg from Trinity Plessinger of Yucca, Calif at 56 kg/123.25 lbs.. Plessinger won her first two matches, then fell in the gold-medal match to Natascha Ballas of Germany, 4-1, 3-0.
Team USA alson scored a bronze medal at 49 kg from Schulyer Brown of Montpelier, Va. At 49 kg/108 lbs. Brown defeat Nadja Hartlieb of Austria in the bronze-medal match by pin in 23 seconds.
