Paced by three individual champions, the Palma High wrestling team claimed
the tourney title Saturday of the Artichoke Invitational at North County High
School.
Palma beat Tracy of the Sac-Joaquin Section 64-15 to win the
title.
Isaiah Jimenez of Palma won his third tourney title and improved
to 23-1 overall with a 3-0 win over Alex Kellogg of San Lorenzo
Valley.
Zach Jimenez of Palma claimed the 191-pound championship while
Hunter Baird was first at 217 pounds.
Palma heavyweight Evan Swenson and
Shane Young took second, Jack Baird was seventh at 140 pounds and Devan Santos
was seventh at 171.
Three Salinas
girls placed at a tourney in Pittsburg — Genivia Martel was fourth at 138,
Josara Pipitone was fourth at 142 and Heather Parcacio was fifth at 112.

11:45 am Guam - Wrestlers from Guam and Japan took to
the mats Saturday at the George Washington High School gym in Mangilao.
The event displayed the skills of the best wrestlers in both the Junior
and Senior divisions and even included a growing women's division. This was won
by Shawntae Shimizu who defeated Therese Indalecio by pin in the second round of
their exciting final matchup. Other results were as follows:
