16-09-01 2001 World Wrestling Championships are postponed.

TO ALL NATIONAL FEDERATIONS
TO ALL FILA BUREAU MEMBERS
TO THE PERSONS CONCERNED

SUBJECT: POSTPONEMENT OF THE 2001 WORLD CHAMPIONSHIPS IN NEW
YORK CITY

By expressing our solidarity with the sorrow of the American
people following the tragic events that recently occurred,
we inform you that the Freestyle, Greco Roman and Feminine
Wrestling World Championships planned from the 26-30 of
September, 2001 is postponed by respect for the families of
the persons who died or disappeared and for security reasons
for the participants in the Championship.

The decision to postpone the Championships was unanimously
taken by the FILA Executive Committee in accordance with
article 21 b/ and 35 g/ of the FILA Constitution. USA
Wrestling has expressed its agreement to postpone the
Championship.

The new place and date of the Championship will be decided
at the end of September.

For your information, please note that we foresee the World
Championships be organized in October or early November.
