Wrestler of the Month

Archives- June 2001
As with many girls, Hope Marie Proctor of Cookeville began wrestling as a sparing partner for her younger brother, Joseph. Her Dad, Paul was an Indiana State University wrestler and former team-mate of USA Olympian, Bruce Baumgartner. So it was a matter of fact and quite predicable that Hope was going to wrestle. She is ten years old and weighs in at 65 pounds. Hope has earned quite a reputation on the mat with 16-4 record this year winning at Tullahoma and the FCI State Tournament. She placed 4th in the Southeastern AAU and is a 2 time National Challenge Cup qualifier. Hope thinks she will continue wrestling, because she says, "It's fun!" She hopes to encourage her friends to wrestle. "It might not be ordinary, but it's so much fun and I do think other girls should give it a try."
