Canada names its team to compete in the Women's World Cup

Ottawa - Canada has selected its team that will compete in the 2003 Women\'s World Cup to be held in Tokyo, Japan from October 11-12.
This is the third year for the Women\'s World Cup and Canada has been represented in each of the past two events. Canada has five medal\'s in total from the previous World Cup\'s held in Levallois, France (2001) and Cario, Egypt (2002) and placed 5th as a country on both occasions. Normally Canada sends it\'s World Alternate Team to this event but this year a few additions from the World Championships Team have been included.
The Canadian Team will be lead by five-time World Champion, Christine Nordhagen-Vierling (U of Calgary W.C., Calgary, AB) who will represent Canada at 72 kilograms. In addition to Christine\'s five world titles, she also has two world medals and numerous international and domestic titles to her credit.
At 48 kilograms, Canada will have Carol Huynh (Burnaby Mountain W.C., Hazelton, B.C.). Carol is a two-time World Senior medallist. Lyndsay Belisle (Burnaby Mountain W.C., Burnaby, B.C.) will represent Canada at 51 kilograms. Lyndsay was a member of the World Senior Team that competed at the 2003 World Championships in New York City, were she placed in 12th. Tonya Verbeek (Brock W.C., Beamsville, ON) will represent Canada at 55 kilograms. Tonya placed 2nd at the 2003 Pan American Games to American Tina George.
At 59 kilograms, Canada will be represented by two-time Junior world medallist, Breanne Graham (U of Calgary W.C., Calgary, AB). 2001 World Junior Champion, Tara Hedican (Guelph W.C., Guelph, ON) will be at 63 kilograms and promising newcomer Martine Dugrenier (Montreal W.C., Montreal, Quebec) will represent Canada at 67 kilograms to round out the team.
Canada will also be sending two additional athletes for the team competition. Two-time World medallist, Jennifer Ryz (Burnaby Mountain W.C., Coquitlam, BC) and 2003 World Senior bronze medallist, Viola Yanik (Saskatoon W.C., Saskatoon, SK) will attend the event and potentially represent Canada at a number of weight classes for injuries or team points.
The team will be coached by Canadian Olympic Women\'s Head Coach, Leigh Vierling (U of Calgary W.C., Calgary, AB) and by former World Senior Women\'s head coach, Mitch Ostberg (U of Calgary W.C., Calgary, AB).
The other countries competing in the event are Japan, China, Germany, Greece, Russia and the United States of America.
Japan recently claimed the World Senior Championships title by the narrowest of margins over the USA. China placed 4th and Canada was close behind in 6th position.

Oviedo High School in Orlando, Florida is looking for a woman to coach the Girls' Wrestling Team.
Phone interviews are being conducted for this position. The position begins in the 2004-2005 school year. We understand that there are many women graduating from college who have been wrestling at schools across the country. Our program is on its 6th year and has broken away from the boys' program. This is an exciting time for Women's Wrestling.
Qualified candidates need to have good managerial skills, a love for wrestling, strong work ethic and be willing to teach young ladies how to be champions.
