Boomer wrestlers drop close dual to Altus

A fast start wasn’t quite enough for the Boomers as Altus overcame a 30-3 deficit to win 42-30 in high school wrestling at Boomer Fieldhouse Thursday.
The Boomers scored pins in five of the first six matches but Altus won the last seven matches of the dual. Two forfeits by the Boomers were the difference in the match, giving Altus the 12-point victory margin.
Kevin Branine, Jake Jones, Michael Comstock, Matt Johnson and Jacob Morgan all recorded quick pins for the Boomers. Branine and Johnson pinned their foes in less than a minute.

Morgan’s fall put the Boomers up 30-3 after just six matches.
The Bulldogs came back with a decision and four consecutive pins, plus the decisive forfeits.
In the junior high dual, Woodward won 48-24 with pins from Joey Miller, Zach White, Joseph Cox and Jimmy Blevins. The Boomers also received forfeits at three weights while forfeiting one weight.
Miller flattened her opponent in just 57 seconds while White needed 1:33 for a fall. Blevins also got a pin in under a minute.
Woodward’s junior high wrestlers go to the Kingfisher Tournament today and Saturday.
Next action for the high school squad is Dec. 12-13 at the Perry Tournament.
