Oklahoma took 3 girls to the fargo N.D to to participate in Junior Nationals and did well. Cheyenne Stokes placed 2nd and is a 3 time All American. Joey Miller placed 4th and is a 2 time All American. Krista Camarillo wrestled well but was 1 match short of placing. She will wrestle for Missouri Valley Collage next year. We wish her good luck with her collage wrestling. Cheyenne and Joey recieved a plaque for making the "The Mat/Asics Girls High School All American Wrestling First Team". They will both be on a poster that will be sent to every High School in The US. This will be the last update for 2005-2006 but will be updated after the season starts in November.

Woodward High School wrestler Joey Miller has been back on the mats again. Recently Miller was nominated to the "The Mat/Asics Girls High School All American Wrestling Team for the second time in her career.
Miller wrestled in Colorado Springs this past weekend in the World Team Trials where she placed third going 4-1. In her first match, Miller defeated Samantha Schuman on Missouri Valley 2-1 and 6-0. In her second match she lost to Jenny Wong of Sunkist 0-2 and 0-6. Miller pinned her third opponant, Krista Camarillo of Women of Wrestling Club, then won her forth match against Jessica Medina of the University of the Cumberlands 2-0, 0-2, 1-0. In the match for third place, Miller grappled with Julietta Okot from the New York Athletic Club and won 5-0, 0-2, and 3-0, earning her a place on the World Team.
With her 3rd place finish she is part of the world team and hope to get to got to a tournament overseas this year.
There are 4 going to Fargo this year and will combine with Oregon an the Duals team.

Team Oklahoma Badgirls had had a good day at the Body Bar National Tournament this last weekend. Here are the results:
Karissa Avalone-70-78 3rd thru 6th 2nd
Hanna Martin - 78-83 Schoolgirl 1st
Cheyenne Stokes -56kg Fila Cadet 1st
Joey Miller - 51kg Fila Junior 3rd.
All the girls wrestled well and Cheyenne only gave up 1 point on way to her championship. Joey lost to the winner of the 51kg by a score of 0-2,1-0,0-1. This is the same girl that beat her in the Senior Div in Las Vegas. Hanna dominated everyone in her div.Karissa pinned 2 befor losing to the first place wrestler. TheMat.com U.S. Senior Women's rankings came out this week and Joey was ranked 5th at 51kg.

Lots of news to report. Oklahoma Badgirls did great at the USGWA Nationals tournament in Michigan. Kennedy Jackson got first place, Laci Wallis got 3rd and beat the first place wrestler but lost by criteria when she lost to the second place wrestler. Hanna Martin had a great tournament. She lost a close one in the finals and ended up 2nd. Joey placed 1st for the 3rd year in the High School div. She had placed 1st in the the elementary 2 times and 1st in the Middle School, 2 times. Cheyenne Stokes place 2nd, loosing a close one to Tatiana Padilla of California.
In Las Vegas, at the Senior Women's National Freestyle Championship. Joey placed fifth out of 18 competitors in the the 51 kg (112 lbs) weight div. . This is the qualifier for the World team trials that will take place the end of June. Joey was a qualifier for the world team trials last year as a freshman in High school but did not place. Joey got to wrestle the 2004 Olympic bronze medallist (Patricia Miranda) in her 2nd match. Joey lost but didn’t get pinned . Joey won 3 matches by fall and 1 by points and lost 2 by points.
This week Joey will be in Colorado Springs to wrestle and train with some of the top female wrestlers in the United States at the Olympic Training Center in Colorado Springs Colo. Then is the Bodybar Fila Jr. Nationals and Cadet Nationals team Qualifiers. It is also a Freestyle National tournament for the girls that are in the 3rd through 6th and 7th -8th grade. We will take 4 or 5 girls to this tournament. I will update after the tournament with the results.

Kennedy Jackson had a great tournament this last weekend getting 2nd. She lost in overtime to last years state champion so it was a battle of state champions. Joey got third at the Carl Albert High school tournament going 4 -1. Joey also did good at the Sunkist international tournament in Arizona. Joey was the youngest wrestler wrestling in the tournament. She went 2 - 2. She was 1 away from placing and her losses and to the 3rd and 5th place wrestlers. Let me know how you do at tournaments and any news you have and I will add it to the news when I update it.

Joey will be going to Tempe Arizona 10/20/05 to compete in the Sunkist Senior Womens Tournament.
